Barda
He's a former palace guard who was wounded when the Shadow Lord attacked the castle. Taken in by Jarred, Lief's father, Barda spent years pretending to be a beggar outside their home. After secretly saving the boy from the Grey Guards again and again, Barda now protects Lief on his quest to find the seven stolen gems and save Deltora from the Shadow Lord.
